Snazzy Photo
Having a photographer in the family requires us to participate in a number of photo-related activities and experiments, which result in such stunning photos as the one above.

Back in the Day....
As I was flipping through Book One of the RSPBA's Structured Learning Manual, I came across this old advertisement for WarMac Chanters and McAllister Reeds. Although there is a slight mistake in the spelling of the McAllister name, it is neat to see the old Shotts address in print! This book was in its second edition, published in 1993, roughly five years before we acquired the reed business.

Happy New Year!
We have changed a few things around on the blog as you might have noticed....cleaned it up a bit, refreshed it and made navigation easier. Links are now in a light grey colour and will change to an orange once rolled over. Subscribing to the blog is easier than ever with the Subscribe to Posts and Comments buttons at the top. Put the URL into your Google Reader (or another RSS reader) and you'll be updated every time we update!
JWT Reedmakers send out the best of luck to all of our friends who are traveling to and competing at Winter Storm in Kansas City this weekend. James P. will be there and we will be posting results as we find them out!
Keep your eyes peeled to www.pipesdrums.com for the next installment of Ryan's piper and drummer series. You will have to be subscribed to the site in order to view the photos.
As Robbie Burns dinner season fast approaches, we hope that you have bought tickets to a dinner near you. The Greater Victoria Police Pipe Band is hosting their 6th annual dinner on January 24th. Info on tickets can be found at http://www.gvppb.ca/ticket_sales.htm. The band had a practice run of their full program recently as they were the guest pipe band for the January meeting of the Vancouver Island Piper's Club (website to come). The dinner is usually a sold out event and guarantees an evening of traditional Scottish entertainment.
More posts to come - including a long awaited audio clip of James P. at the BCPA Knockout, which granted him through to the final round in February.
